Nonprofit Support, Simplified
Meet Cassie Sander, founder of Cause Advocate. After years in the nonprofit sector, she noticed a common trend: too much work and not enough bandwidth or staff. That discovery led to a strength she found: digging into lingering projects—the ones that would make a significant impact if someone could find the time to complete them.
After finding herself in a freelance role due to a move from Colorado to Alaska, Cassie realized she could continue to pursue her passion for nonprofit support by creating a company that addresses those lingering, impactful projects for small to mid-sized nonprofits.
Cause Advocate partners with mission-driven organizations to deliver tailored solutions that address organizational needs. Whether it’s strengthening strategic partnerships, building a comprehensive annual development plan, or growing a grants program, Cause Advocate supports your mission’s impact to create lasting change for those you serve.
Experience
Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, Cassie spent many years working with for-profit companies in roles focused on project management and strategic partnerships. During this time, she earned her International MBA.
Cassie transitioned her career to the nonprofit sector in hopes of making a more positive impact on those around her. She has primarily worked within the food insecurity space, where she found a strength in development, grant, and partnership-related work. Major accomplishments include:
Producing strategic fundraising frameworks and comprehensive annual development plans, including campaign strategies and customizable templates, to reach organizations’ financial goals.
Leading grant efforts by researching and securing funding opportunities, crafting persuasive proposals, and managing all reporting.
Building strategic, mission-aligned partnerships by understanding unique goals and developing customized opportunities, from event sponsorships to ongoing community partnerships, that strengthen engagement, expand impact, and create lasting value.
Testimonials
“Cassie was an incredible asset to Community Ministry. She brought a depth of knowledge in development and a thoughtful, strategic approach to every project she took on. One of the things I appreciated most was her ability to look at all the angles, think through the process deeply, and then develop practical solutions that could actually be put into action.
Her work on our financial contribution campaign and annual development planning was especially valuable. She created tools and processes that were clear, easy to use, and truly “plug and play,” allowing our team to confidently take them over and put them into practice.
Beyond her expertise, Cassie is an amazing teammate—smart, thoughtful, collaborative, and genuinely invested in helping an organization succeed. I would highly recommend her to any nonprofit looking for someone who can bring both strategic thinking and practical development expertise to their work.”

She takes initiative to dig deeply into unfamiliar areas and turn ideas into well-executed results. She would be an asset to any organization or business looking for someone to combine strategic thinking, creativity, and exceptional follow-through.”

“Cassie Sander was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is a consummate professional. Attentive to detail, timely in her response, and thoughtful in delivery. The research she performed for us, and how she packaged it for review, was precisely what we had hoped for and ensured great strides were made where we had not the time or expertise. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to work with her again!”
